The Kleinmond Estuary has been temporarily closed due to high e-coli and enterococci readings on 10 en 24 February 2022.
No spill was reported from the pump station near the tennis courts in Kleinmond. The Municipality is currently inspecting sewage lines for possible leakages and will report back to the public once the source of the contamination is found.
A warning sign has been erected upon instruction from Overberg District Municipality (ODM). The public is warned not to swim in the estuary until further notice. The sign will be removed once water sample results are found to be within ODM’s recreational water quality standards.
