HERMANUS - The title of Alderman was conferred by Council upon the Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie at a council meeting of 30 March 2022, after being informed that in terms of the Overstrand Municipality’s approved criteria she qualified for the title. In fact, she exceeded the threshold of 15 points for the title by far by earning forty points for being a local municipal councillor for 16 years, being mayor of a local municipality before for 3 years (two points for every year), serving in an executive committee for 2 years, leading a ward committee for 6 years, being a councillor in a district municipality for 6 years, being mayor of a district municipality for 3 years (also two points for every year), and serving in a district municipality’s mayoral committee for one year.
