KLEINMOND – On the last day of the Kidscan holiday programme, the 34 children hopped onto the SANBI bus to be taken to the Harold Porter Botanical Garden in Betty’s Bay. They were accompanied by two educators and four class assistants. The group of grade 1 -6 children was quite excited to meet a tortoise and to learn about the food it eats. Eunice Jurgens of Harold Porter and her team made it a most enjoyable morning for the kids, telling them about other small animals they encountered and about nature in general. In two groups they hiked all the way to the waterfall and back. “We really want to thank the staff of Harold Porter, who made it a memorable morning for the kids,” says Anne Bornman, one of the educators at KidsCan.
