The annual Hermanus Rotary Drive Slope Fly is back, and radio-controlled model aircraft and glider enthusiasts are in for a treat during the weekend of 24 – 26 November 2023.
“Rotary Drive is an excellent flying site, and the Slope Fly weekend will offer loads of fun for the whole family,” says Councillor Clinton Lerm, Mayco Member of Investment, Infrastructure and Tourism.
Not only is this event a highlight for participants but it offers a spectacular sight for observers.
Radio controlled model aircraft and glider operators are part of a niche travel market when they get together for weekends such as the one organised by the Atlantic Flying Club. This brings a great number of people to the Overstrand while promoting tourism. With a view over Fernkloof Nature Reserve towards Walker Bay visitors will be reminded of the natural beauty of our region.
