Vigilant law enforcement officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on the R43 near De Kelders following an intel driven operation that was conducted by a multi-disciplinary team from Overstrand Municipality’s Task Team and Leap officers as well as the Monitoring and Surveillance Unit of DFFE, late on Friday night, 10 November 2023.
The vehicle was stopped, and 4 204 abalone was discovered. The yellow Ford Bantam bakkie and abalone were handed in at SAPS.
In other joint operations across the Greater Hermanus area, various vehicle check points (VCP), random stop and search and execution of search warrants were conducted by SAPS Flying Squad, Overstrand K-9 andTask Team Units as well as Leap officers to enforce law enforcement visibility.
