The Western Cape Government Health and Wellness in the Overberg is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ronel Bezuidenhout as the new District Director in the Overberg as of 1 May 2024.
Mrs. Bezuidenhout brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having dedicated her career to rural health care. Her journey began in the Central Karoo, and she later moved to the Boland Overberg Region, where she coordinated Maternal, Child & Women’s Health programs until 2004. Subsequently, she contributed to Youth & Adolescent Health research at WITTS Health Consortium , where after she became the Regional and later the Provincial Manager for LoveLife [NGO] in the Western Cape
In 2011, Ms. Bezuidenhout returned to the public health sector as the CBS manager in the Cape Winelands District. Her dedication continued when she assumed the role of Assistant Manager Nursing at Brewelskloof TB Hospital. In September 2017, she joined Worcester Regional Hospital as the Head of Nursing, where she has been instrumental in enhancing patient care and nursing services.
Ms. Bezuidenhout is a Registered Professional Nurse with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Leadership. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Public Health qualification with a focus on Disaster Management and Non-Communicable Diseases. She is also a mentor to Oliver Tambo Fellowship [OTF] Post Graduate Health Leadership students at UCT.
