To all beneficiaries of the indigent grant:
Please remember that, as per the Overstrand Municipality Indigent Policy (Clause 13(b)), you must re-apply for your indigent grant every year.
As soon as indigent households receive an SMS reminding them that their grant period has ended, they must visit any of the municipal offices in Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus or Kleinmond during the week for assistance.
Otherwise, households in need of financial support will automatically forfeit their indigent subsidies and free basic services (such as electricity units) if their indigent subsidy has expired and they have not re-applied for the grant.
To date, 3Â 939 applications have been received from indigent households across the Overstrand. Of these, 73 forms were incomplete due to outstanding documentation or incorrect information. Additionally, 519 new applications and 367 re-applications/renewals have been received and still need to be processed or verified.
To reach as many as possible households, Overstrand Municipality’s finance department will assist those in need at community halls on certain Saturday mornings and on weekdays until 18:00, on a rotational basis.
