Numerous enquiries from the public regarding the after-hour sewer tanker service request charges prompted the municipality to critically assess the implementation of these levies.
Following a discussion with the Mayor, CFO and the responsible operational manager on 6 August 2024, it can now be confirmed that an after-hour rate will only be charged when a customer requests a service after 15:00 and demands that the service be provided on the same day.
According to the Overstrand Municipality’s Service Charter, the standard for delivering the service is withing three working days after the request has been lodged. Therefore, you can request the service at any time, either by phone, through the Collaborator Citizen App, or by e-mail.
The municipality will then have three days to provide the service, and the customer will be charged the normal rate. However, if a service is requested by telephone after 15:00 on weekdays or at any time after hours, and is required on the same day, the customer will be charged the after-hour rate. PRESS RELEASE
