BETTY’S BAY – Dominic and Roxy Jackson opened their shop, Fish @ Betty’s Bay Village Centre a month ago in, shop 7. It is the only fish and chips shop in the village, and they also incorporated Dominic’s Mobile Coffee Shop into the business, Betty’s Barista.
“With this venture we go way back to my roots. My parents owned a fish and chips shop in Kensington, Cape Town, and I grew up in the business,” says Dominic. He and Roxy previously had a coffee shop in Kleinmond, but during the Covid pandemic they had to give it up. After that they had a paint shop in Betty’s Bay, but they closed it down to focus on what they were passionate about and so Fish was born at the same premises.
“We use fresh fish and fresh potato chips. Everything is fried to order. We do grilled fish on request. We are so happy to report that we have been very busy since we opened – it is much better than what we expected,” smiles Dominic.
The shop offers hake and snoek in small or standard portions, with or without a generous addition of freshly baked chips.
The Jacksons have been living in Betty’s Bay for the past 14 years. They both work in the newly established shop with one assistant, Zee Zimasa.
Dominic is an enthusiastic paraglider and the village with its high mountain and landing space on the beach is ideal for the sport.
“We strive to provide the best fish and chips experience. Come to Fish @ Betty’s Bay Village Centre, smell the aromas and taste some real goodness,” says Dominic. Phone him on 066 108 0694.
