SANDBAAI – Mary Ovenstone is an Executive and Leadership Coach and Mentor, a Canadian-trained Counsellor for individuals and couples, international workshop presenter and public speaker, author and frequent guest in the media. She resides in Sandbaai but works globally.
With a Master’s degree in Philosophy, specifically Management Coaching, her latest research has been on the neurological differences between the male and female brain. As a child Mary was intrigued by the song from the musical, Annie get your gun! where Annie tells her boyfriend she can do anything better than he can. Should a girl be better or just as good, she wondered. Or could the differences just be accepted?
In her seven years’ study of the brain, she found that the male and female brains are 92% the same, but the 8% difference in the physical appearance is how they think, process emotions and relate. It is about how men and women think and make decisions, process feelings and relate, using different parts of the brain.
She has developed practical models for couples to address joint finances with differing incomes; on Zoning: a model for work/life balance; and on communications and conflict resolution.
She coaches and mentors executives, professionals and entrepreneurs across indus-tries and internationally. She offers team-coaching, team-building and strategic thinking exercises, as well as conducts workshops aimed at leadership and management development.
She conducts exercises with marketing departments and advertising agencies on how to brand and market diffe-rently to men and women and at different life-stages.
