OM PRESS RELEASE – The Overberg District Municipality (ODM) are warning beach walkers to be on the lookout for pharmaceutical pill bottles washing up on local beaches.
These bottles are believed to have come from cargo containers lost at sea during rough weather earlier in September along the Eastern Cape coast.
If you come across any plastic pill bottles or food products on the beach, please do not open them and keep dogs and children away. Instead, report it to Spill Tech, an environmental cleanup and pollution control company, on 063 404 2128. You can also contact the Environmental and Conservational Management Division of Overstrand Municipality at 028 316 3724 during office hours or phone the 24/7 Fire & Rescue number on 028 312 2400 to report your findings.
Please provide a pin location to make it easy to find the exact spot for speedy retrieval and safe disposal, and include photos you may have.
