PRESS RELEASE – Public holidays and office closures despite, collection will continue as usual.
Overstrand Municipality appeals to one and all to dispose of their refuse in a responsible manner and to do their bit to support our drive towards cleaner towns and villages.
Stick to the refuse removal schedule for your area.
- Place your household waste in wheelie bins/black bags and put it out on the scheduled collection day only by no later than 07:00 on the morning of collection.
- Do not leave refuse bags/bins on the pavement overnight.
- In baboon-affected areas, you must make use of an animal-proof bin to dispose of domestic waste.
- We are serious about recycling. Please separate your waste: Black bags are for “wet” waste; the clear bags are for recycling.
- Clean garden waste should be delivered to one of the following: the Gansbaai landfill site; the Betty’s Bay garden-waste site; or the transfer stations in Hermanus and Kleinmond. Alternatively, make use of the public drop-off sites in Stanford and Pearly Beach.
- When transporting garden waste, please be sure to cover and secure the load with tarpaulins or nets.
- All of the facilities referred to above are open from 08:00 till 17:00 on weekdays, and most are also open on Saturdays and public holidays, albeit for shorter hours.
- Do not dump rubbish bags, old furniture or household appliances next to roads or on open erven.
