PRINGLE BAY – Concerns have been voiced ahead of a Special General Meeting of the Pringle Bay Ratepayers’ Association (PBRA), set to take place in the community hall on Thursday, 20 March 2025, at 17:30.
The meeting, unanimously called by the PBRA’s executive committee on 24 February 2025, aims to present the community with a priority list of projects for the village, updates on ongoing land-use court cases, and a resolution that requires a vote.
The proposed resolution outlines the following agreements:
1. adjusting the PBRA Executive’s discretionary financial mandate to include funding for approved portfolio projects, capped at R70,000;
2. continuing litigation, in collaboration with the Hangklip Environmental Action Group (HEAG), in the case known as the “Padstal” court case and
3. approving additional legal expenditure of R150,000.
However, concerns have been raised by residents, citing two issues. Firstly, it was previously suggested that ongoing litigation would not incur further costs. Secondly, the circumstances surrounding the court cases have reportedly shifted, with one case involving the former “Padstal” property, which has since been rebranded as “FOMO” and is now seen as an asset to the area.
When approached for comment, PBRA Chairperson Mr. Gert Bam stated, “I believe it is inappropriate for me as chairperson to ventilate these matters via the media prior to the meeting where all members of the PBRA are afforded the opportunity to discuss the same. It is important to protect the integrity of the organization’s internal procedures.”
Members are encouraged to attend the meeting to address their concerns and stay informed about the village’s developments.
