PRESS RELEASE -The next improvement at the Kleinmond Sports grounds involves upgrading the existing floodlights, as they no longer meet the required standards.

To resolve this, Overstrand Municipality applied for Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) funding, which was approved in October 2024.

Six  floodlights using LED lights  were designed to provide 150 lux club-level illumination along with six 15m masts and the necessary electrical infrastructure, and cable network will be in-stalled.

On 24 February 2025, the contractor began excavation work and concrete pouring is planned within the next two weeks. After the concrete is poured, it will require a curing period of 21 to 28 days to achieve the necessary strength. Following this, the installation of the masts and floodlights will begin, with the project scheduled for completion by 18 April 2025.

The total cost of the project, including fees and construction, is estimated at R 2.1 million (excluding VAT).
